Dear friends, while students in Canada have just returned to school, the school year in Guatemala is coming to the end of the year. On October 25, I’ll be in Guatemala for the graduation of the 2nd grade 12 school at the school we’re supporting in the community of El Triunfo. It should be a great day and it will be wonderful to be with the students, their parents, and the staff of the school.
I also received some great news about the grade 12 class. Earlier in the year I told you about their main project for the year which had an agricultural focus. The project recently wrapped up and our students were selected as having the best project in the entire department of Solola! Congratulations to the students as well as the teachers!
Last month in Toronto, many of you attended or supported the Third Annual Guatemalan Mid-Season Bash. I’m pleased to report that it was a great success raising just over $4,000 (the amount needed to pay the teachers for a month). Special thanks go out to Michele and Margaret for their organizational skills as well as Jennifer for her help. In addition, I’d like to thank everyone who attended or contributed items for the silent auction. And for those of you who couldn’t attend but told us you would contribute, it’s still not too late!
Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated by the students, teachers and parents in El Triunfo. Your tax deductible donations to the school can be directed to Pueblito Canada.
